Green Shoots is our integrated gardening project that encompasses both our allotment project, based on the Kinnaird Allotment Association site on The Law and our new plant nursery polytunnels, based in Menziehill. The young people are involved in all aspects of horticulture and landscaping gaining wide-ranging experience.

This year Green Shoots has done everything from producing vegetables for the kitchen in Dundee centre and Servite homes; brought a derelict woodland garden back to life in Broughty Ferry; returned an overgrown allotment to life to be used by a new tenant; and produced a large number of Christmas wreaths for sale. Now willow making will be underway until the spring and the propagation of a wide range of new herbaceous plants for sale later this year.

The young people are also involved in learning basic joinery, slabbing and landscaping through the Green Shoots project. During 2011 we will be joining with partners Barnardo's to extend the service and enable young people with learning difficulties develop skills through this social enterprise.
