Growwell - NHS Tayside

On behalf of NHS Tayside, Helm is running a range of cooking classes for young women who attend the Dundee Centre, under the recently launched, Growwell banner. Growwell aims to improve the nutritional knowledge and skills of women of a child-bearing age and those with young families.

Helm runs three cooking sessions a week - two for young parents and one for young women aged 15-18 years. All the participants use the LIVE It! Handbook which incorporates a range of tasty and nutritional recipes from the Food Standards' Agency Cookwell course.

Helm also has links with other local charities and organisations and provided further advice to a wider audience of young women in the city on how to improve their nutrition and where relevant, that of their families by encouraging breastfeeding, uptake of Healthy Start vitamins and vouchers, and providing cooking lessons and resources that will help them in the future.
