Workstep aims to provide support in jobs
for disabled people who have more complex barriers to finding and
keeping work. Helm Training is one of the local organisations that
operates the Workstep programme on behalf of Jobcentreplus, providing
the liaison and support that is often needed for the participants
to work effectively, and to develop and promote independence in
their job. Currently Helm supports 15 disabled people.
Dundee and Angus Individual Initiative Fund
This successful programme, funded by Scottish
Enterprise Tayside is designed to help unemployed people secure
a job offer through training, or enterprising people build new businesses,
with the help of re-training. Helm Training facilitates the programme
by offering free advice and support to participants who may need
for example manual trade qualifications, an HGV licence, or for
those who have a business plan but need to develop their skills
by completing a specialised course to get it off the ground, like
pilates or beauty therapy. The scheme is open to those over 25 years
and who fit the Training for Work criteria. |
